Tucked away down a leafy hẻm/lane, ByNature is located within the heart of the expat enclave, Thao Dien in District 2 (now An Khanh Ward). As you enter the shop, expect to be greeted with a big smile belonging to owner Signe. Signe is as welcoming as the beautiful space she has created. ByNature a joyful store providing a selection of carefully curated gifts and homeware products, as well as safe-to-eat, chemical-free fruit and vegetables, dairy items, baked goods and more.
ByNature initially came about to address frustration around sustainability and food safety within Vietnam. When grocery shopping for her own family, Signe found so much food was unnecessarily wrapped in single-use plastic. Both she and her husband, Christian, were also concerned about the prevalent use of chemicals and insecticides in fresh food production here. Together, they decided to create home delivery service that was different.
Over two years, Christian searched for local farms that grew seasonal fruit and vegetables without the use of chemicals or synthetic pesticides. In early 2019, ByNature was founded. By August, it was delivering sustainable produce completely free of unnecessary plastic packaging to people’s homes.
In time, Signe decided she wanted to set up a space dedicated to providing a more meaningful experience for her customers. By mid-2024, ByNature had opened the doors to its first store. In addition to stocking its usual array of seasonal produce, dairy and baked goods, the product range expanded to include all-natural body care essentials and sustainable cleaning products, as well as giftware. Given our own desire to reduce our environmental footprint, Very Ngon Homewares was very excited Signe approached us about joining the ByNature community.
So much more than a shop, ByNature has become a thriving community hub for anyone trying to embrace a mindful, plastic-free lifestyle. From supporting local charities such as Ba Chiêu Home for disadvantaged girls to finding ways to reduce everyday waste, Signe explains that ByNature’s core mission hasn’t changed. It looks towards a future with so much hope, believing that the small, daily choices we collectively make will protect our climate for generations to come.
